If you have young children then it’s not likely that they’ll use up much bandwidth. However, if you’re blessed with teens, they will no doubt be downloading movies and music and uploading pictures to social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook so you’ll need a reliable connection with a high download limit.

Having this will allow you to build your own website, and also create an email address that sends directly to an email account of your own, without the need for Hotmail. Static/fixed IP addresses also allow you to connect remotely to your PC, run a secure FTP server for uploading and sharing files with partners and clients and eliminate the possibility of downtime when a dynamic IP address refreshes itself.

What are the basic requirements to use broadband services?

The basic technical requirements are:

  1. Telephone line provided by Telekom Malaysia
  2. DSL modem/ router (we give it free for Home and Enterprise BroadBand packages)
  3. Splitter & Micro filter (we will provide this if the installation is done by us)
  4. Internal wiring
  5. AC power supply
  6. PC – The minimum requirements are: Pentium processor, Windows 98 or NT and above, 32MB RAM, 30MB hard disk capacity, Network Interface Card (NIC)


What are documents needed if I want to sign-up with INFOLIENT BroadBand?

The basic documents for a Home / Residential Application are:

  1. Original INFOLIENT BroadBand Application Form - Not applicable if you apply online at our secure website portal www.infolient.com
  2. Copy of NRIC (front and back)
  3. Copy of Telephone Bill

 

The basic documents for a Business / Organisation Application are:

  1. Original INFOLIENT BroadBand Application Form - Not applicable if you apply online at our secure website portal www.infolient.com
  2. Copy of NRIC of authorised person (front and back)

What speed will I get?

INFOLIENT BroadBand gives up to 1Mb (1Mb download/ 512Kb upload) on best effort basis depending on the packages that you have chosen. The actual connection speed that you get will depend on the quality of your telephone copper line and the distance of the telephone line between your home and the local phone exchange.


If my phone line is through a cable service provider can I still get INFOLIENT Broadband?

Yes. At the moment, we are using a Telekom Malaysia phone line for our broadband connectivity. If you already have a phone line with Telekom Malaysia, you can get our broadband services anywhere in Malaysia subject to availability of the access ports.

I already have a broadband service with another Internet Service Provider (ISP); can I change it over to INFOLIENT Broadband?

Switching your broadband service over to INFOLIENT is simple. What you need to do is contact you ISP provider and fill up a form to cancel the service. The timeline to cancel your existing service is subject to the terms and conditions that you have signed with your current ISP.


Is there a limit to how much I can upload and download on broadband?

There is no limit to upload and download, however in terms of the speed, the maximum donwload speed is 1.0Mbps and the upload speed is 512k at best effort basis.


Can I use my own broadband modem or do I have to use the one supplied by INFOLIENT?

All our Broadband packages come with a free modem that has 2 years warranty. We would recommend you use our modem to ensure reliable and faster connectivity. However, you are permitted to use your own modem or buy other modems at your own will.


How long does it take to get INFOLIENT broadband?

If you are installing a new broadband connection, it normally takes around 7 working days from the receipt of your registration form and other required supporting documents in order to activate your service.


How do I install INFOLIENT Broadband?

If you've ordered a modem/router through us, this will arrive prior to your service going live. Our modem/router is already pre-programmed (plug & play) therefore all you need to do is follow the simple step-by-step instructions.

You can also call our Customer Service Centre at 1700 800 801 or find guides in our Online Support Centre at www.infolient.com for easy installation. If you are a new user, we recommend the installation is done by our technical team with a minimal fee of RM100 only. The optional installation will be charged in your bill.

Is there a minimum contract period?

There is a 12 month minimum contract for INFOLIENT Broadband. It may vary from time to time depending the packages that we offered.

What happens to my broadband connection if I move home?

Provided that your new phone line is capable of supporting broadband, we can move your INFOLIENT Broadband service. If you are still within a 12 month contract, there is a fee of RM88.00 to move your broadband service to your new premises - even if you take the same number with you.

What if I want to cancel my INFOLIENT BroadBand subscription?

INFOLIENT Broadband is subject to a 12 month minimum contract. You may cancel at anytime following the second 12 months, subject to one month's notice. You may cancel within the 12 month contract but you will need to pay the remaining subscription fee depending on the package that you have taken.
